Both lawn and cotton are made for heat, but they behave differently once she starts running around. Here is how we choose between them for our own collections.
Lawn: light and airy
Lawn is a fine, tightly woven cotton that feels almost weightless. It's our pick for printed suits and the hottest weeks of June, and it dries quickly after washing.
Cotton: a little more structure
Our summer cotton is slightly heavier, so embroidery, mirror work and scalloped borders sit neatly on it. It holds its shape through a long day and softens with every wash.
Keeping colours bright
Wash dark colours separately for the first few washes, turn embroidered pieces inside out, and dry them in the shade so prints don't fade.
Which should you choose?
For everyday wear and school holidays, choose lawn. For occasions, photographs and anything with embellishment, choose cotton.
